EA’s new Marvel games includes Iron Man

Thanks to EA, Iron Man will now have his very own video game. The superhero has appeared in numerous video games but never as the protagonist of his own tale.

With Iron Man heading the group, the video game publisher and Marvel revealed a long-term agreement to create at least three new action-adventure Marvel superhero games.

This is a great milestone for our developers as well as our players and fans, said Laura Miele, COO of EA. “We have been longtime admirers of Marvel and their tremendous leadership,” she said. “We are excited to welcome Marvel into the EA family of creators and are confident that our players will benefit greatly from this partnership. When players dress as Iron Man and perform the extraordinary feats that this Super Hero is known for, we can’t wait to witness their reactions.

Jay Ong, executive vice president of Marvel Games, said, “At Marvel, we strive to find best-in-class teams who can take our characters on heroic journeys in ways they haven’t before. Working with Electronic Arts will help us achieve that. We take pride in working with developers in an enthusiastic, imaginative way that gives them the flexibility to produce something wholly original and absolutely amazing. With their Iron Man video game, the Motive team is starting to work on that, and we can’t wait for players to find out more in the distant future.

Of course, there has been a long wait for an Iron Man video game. Although that was a genuinely enjoyable game and it’s great to see one of the people behind it leading this new title, it’s more than a little surprising that a Guardians of the Galaxy game was created before Iron Man launched.

Motive is a relatively new game development studio that collaborated with DICE on Star Wars: Battlefront II (2017) and Star Wars: Squadrons (2020). The studio is also working on the Dead Space reboot, which is scheduled to debut in 2023. Motive and Marvel Games will work together on Iron Man.

We’ll have to wait for additional information regarding the game’s plot. There were no game play videos, images, or trailers released along with the announcement. No ETA or release date has been disclosed. Unknown are the other two EA Marvel games.
