Usain Bolt’s co-owned esports organization gets sponsorship by Virgin Media

Virgin Media, a leading provider of communications services in the UK, has announced a collaboration with WYLDE, an Irish esports organization.

WYLDE will establish its first performance center in Cork, Republic of Ireland, according to the release. The facility, which will be “powered by Virgin Media,” is slated to conduct boot camps for the organization’s teams as well as competitive gaming tournaments.

Usain Bolt, a gold-medal winning sprinter from Jamaica, is a co-owner of WYLDE, which has strong squads in FIFA, Rocket League, Rainbow Six: Siege, and VALORANT. The organization’s Rainbow Six Siege squad advanced to the semifinals of the $2 million Gamers 8 competition in Saudi Arabia after receiving funding of €375,000 earlier this year.

The opening of the performance center will enable WYLDE to hold physical training sessions for its FIFA and Rainbow Six teams and improve its teaching methods.

Virgin Media is also starting a broad content push in Ireland to go along with the WYLDE agreement. Two WYLDE Irish FIFA pros will compete in the campaign while promoting Virgin Media internet.
