Infinity Ward has released the launch trailer for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2, which highlights what’s new for players as Season 2 finally draws near. This week is significant because Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 are both receiving the significant Season 2 update that was postponed by a few weeks. The most significant aspect of this update is the debut of a brand-new Warzone area dubbed Ashika Island, which many have likened to another, more compact encounter like Rebirth Island.
Along with the inclusion of new material, Warzone 2 is also getting significant gameplay overhauls. The popular Battle Royale has already revealed some of the upcoming Warzone modifications, including the standardization and simplifying of the vest system by doing away with numerous sizes in favor of only three plate types. Additionally, all players now have the same-sized backpacks, and stuff now falls to the ground instead of being carried around in bags. Because there will be so much new material, Infinity Ward is giving players a sneak preview with the Season 2 premiere trailer.
While multiplayer received some appreciation as well, many fans are disappointed that Infinity Ward appears to have focused mostly on Call of Duty: Warzone and DMZ. Al Malik International and the 6v6 map Dome will both be available as Battle Maps in Season 2. The multiplayer portion of the update also brings back Gun Game and Infected as new game types, but that seems to be the extent of it.
