Elon Musk lost a poll he conducted on Twitter in which the majority of respondents want him to step down as the company’s CEO. The outcome is the icing on the cake of a bad week for the CEO of Twitter, who has seen a number of scandals develop as a result of banned journalists and unexpectedly drastic policy changes.
More than 17.5 million users voted in his poll on Monday, with 42.5% voting “no” to Mr Musk stepping down, while 57.5% voted “yes”. Before the polling ended, Mr. Musk, who paid $44 billion for Twitter, declared that he would follow the outcome.
Mr. Musk has in the past complied with Twitter surveys. He frequently uses the Latin proverb “vox populi, vox dei,” which translates to “the voice of the people is the voice of God.”
