Wrath of the Lich King Classic is on the horizon, and with that comes the Pre-Patch, slowly introducing new systems and content before the full expansion is live.
The pre-patch brings Wrath of the Lich King’s systems, including character reworks, balance,iInscription, scenery upgrades for the capital city of Stormwind and Orgrimmar, and achievements, to World of Warcraft Classic.
On August 30, the first hero class in the game will also enter the battlefield. There is no restriction on how many Death Knights a player can make, although there is a maximum of one per realm and every Death Knight must be made by a level 55 character on the realm. Death Knights are the first class to begin at level 55 rather than level 1, and they receive a lengthy introduction outlining how they managed to escape the Lich King’s control and return to their native land to join either the Horde or the Alliance.
On September 6, the Zombie Plague event starts, which causes capital cities to be infected with the enigmatic Scourge disease. The Scourge Invasion then starts in earnest on September 13. Players can travel to Necropolis throughout the world of Azeroth and defeat waves of Scourge that spawn from crystals. When Wrath of the Lich King goes online on September 26, the Invasion will cease and players will be able to return to Northrend and visit the Howling Fjord or Borean Tundra.
