4A Games loses one of its own in Ukraine war

Unfortunately, news reached our editorial team that one of the major game development studios on the island lost animator Andrii Korzinkin, known as ‘Nizrock’ in the ongoing war in Ukraine. Andrii had joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine after the war with Russia began, where he managed to help his parents escape from the city of Mariupol to Kyiv. The latest news, however, reports that Andrii was killed in action on the 24th of September while defending his country near Mykolaiv city.

In a tribute post on their social media pages, 4A Games remembered Andrii as a talented animator who delighted in Metro Exodus’s mutants and creatures; and as a friend who was always positive and calm, who loved board games and time at the gym.

4A Games is a multinational video game development studio with offices in both Malta and Ukraine – known for its atmospheric first-person shooters Metro 2033, Metro: Last Light, Arktika. 1, and their latest release, Metro Exodus.

The Playcon team and the game development community in Malta send their sincere condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of the late Andrii Korzinkin.
