G4 TV has been discontinued

Comcast has chosen to discontinue G4 TV, a cable TV channel focused on video games, just one year after it was relaunched.

Dave Scott, the chief executive officer of Comcast’s Spectator, a sports and entertainment company, explained the choice to staff members in a memo that Deadline first received.

Although we put a lot of effort into building that interest in G4 over the past few months, Scott noted that the network’s viewership is low and its financial performance is not sustainable. This is undoubtedly not what we had hoped for, thus we have made the extremely tough decision to stop G4’s activities immediately.

Finding out that G4 TV was shut down due to low ratings is not all that shocking. That is frequently the primary aspect of television. Many G4 employees, who did not read or get the message, were shocked by the choice. Many of these G4 employees revealed that they learned about the closure of G4 TV and, therefore, their unemployment, via Twitter.
