Keywords Studios, a video game service company, expands in Malta

A global service provider for the video gaming industry plans to establish operations in Malta.

Through a number of its companies, Keywords Studios, which employs 11,000 people across 70 sites in 24 countries, will grow to Malta.

Sperasoft, a subsidiary of its US-based corporation that worked on titles including Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, FIFA 2022, and Rainbow Six Extraction, is anticipated to be the first of its companies to establish a presence in Malta.

It is anticipated that the UK-based Electric Square, which contributed to titles including Battlefield 2042 and Sniper Elite 5, would follow.

With annual revenues over €500 million and a public listing on the London Stock Exchange, Keyword Studios was founded in Ireland.

In a statement released on Saturday, the Economy Ministry announced its plans to expand to Malta. The announcement made no mention of the size of the activities to be headquartered in Malta, their start date, or the probable economic impact they will have on the country.

At the time of publishing, the company’s website advertised three Malta-based positions as open: two were for player support agents and one was in human resources.

The CEO of Keywords Studios, Bertrand Bodson, expressed admiration for the Maltese government’s four-year commitment in the video game industry and stated that the firm considered Malta to be a “natural match” for its long-term goals.

We are looking forward to continuing support in building a sustainable video game ecosystem for the island.
