Christmas Day, December 25, 2022, will mark The Witcher: Blood Origin’s debut. The actors of the spinoff miniseries from the Witcher world revealed its premiere date during a Netflix Tudum event.

Stars in Blood Origins include Laurence O’Fuarain as Fjall, a warrior from a clan, Sophia Brown as Eile, a former member of the Queen’s guard who is now a roaming singer, and Michelle Yeoh as Scian, the sole survivor of an elf tribe whose goal is to recover a sword taken from her people.

The summary of the teaser we received in December of last year states that The Witcher: Blood Origin is “a fresh prequel series set 1200 years before The Witcher’s events in an elf world. Blood Origin will recount a long-forgotten tale that focuses on the development of the first Witcher prototype as well as the crucial Conjunction of the Spheres, which saw the union of the elven, human, and monster realms.”

Along with the date, Minnie Driver was also revealed as a new cast member for the program. She will portray a figure that will be “pivotal in integrating Blood Origins’ history with The Witcher’s future,” though we don’t know much about that character yet.

The performers shared some intriguing details about the program, including the fact that Brown’s character Éile would play a Scandinavian instrument called the Nyckelharpa. Along with the instrument, four songs for Blood Origins were also written. Yeoh had the option of choosing the Scian’s eyes’ color. She chose aquamarine because she believed it would have a distinctive, ethereal, and otherworldly appearance.
