GTA VI Trailer Breakdown – Big Reveals About the Story, World & Cast

Rockstar Games has once again delayed the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI, now set to release on May 26, 2026. However, to keep fans engaged, the studio has dropped a second trailer, offering nearly three minutes of brand-new footage. This trailer is packed with exciting details, including a closer look at the game’s two protagonists and supporting characters who appear to play crucial roles in the narrative. All of these elements, along with hidden clues and fresh insights into the world of GTA VI, will be explored in this article.

GTA VI will feature two playable protagonists

Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos. Similar to the character-switch mechanic as seen in GTA V, players will be able to switch between the two at any time during gameplay. Notably, Lucia marks a milestone for Rockstar Games as the first female protagonist in GTA history. The two appear to share a romantic connection, with their storyline seemingly influenced by the infamous outlaw couple Bonnie and Clyde.

“Jason and Lucia have always known the deck is stacked against them. But when an easy score goes wrong, they find themselves on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America, in the middle of a criminal conspiracy stretching across the state of Leonida – forced to rely on each other more than ever if they want to make it out alive.”

Florida Re-imagined in GTA VI

GTA VI is set in the state of Leonida, Rockstar’s fictional take on Florida. The Leonida Keys, where Jason appears to be living, draws clear inspiration from the real-life Florida Keys. This region is historically known as a hotspot for drug trafficking. That theme seems central to the game’s narrative, as multiple scenes throughout the trailer hint at smuggling, cartel activity, and the underworld economy driving the region’s chaos.

Brian Heder

Players are introduced to Brian Heder, Jason Duval’s landlord and a seasoned smuggler from the golden age of drug running in the Leonida Keys. Operating out of his boatyard, Brian’s Boat Works & Marina, Brian continues his illicit activities while delegating the dirty work to others. Brian allows Jason to live rent-free in one of his properties, provided Jason assists with local shakedowns.

Lucia Caminos may also be connected to Brian’s operations. In the trailer, she’s seen performing community service while wearing a hat bearing the logo of Brian’s Boat Works & Marina, hinting at her involvement in his smuggling activities. Together, these connections entangle Jason and Lucia in the underworld economy of the Leonida Keys, complicating their efforts to escape their criminal pasts.

Carl Hampton

Cal Hampton is a colourful character introduced in the trailer. Spotted at The Rusty Anchor bar, he is a friend of Jason and an associate of Brian. Cal is known for his love of shots, both alcoholic and otherwise, and his deep paranoia. He often comes across as overly suspicious and jittery, making him a likely source of comic relief or unreliable intel. While it is probably smart to take his words with a grain of salt, in the unpredictable world of GTA VI, even the most paranoid ramblings could hold some truth.

Real Dimez

A woman is shown sporting a gold chain with the initials “BL”, Bae-Luxe is one half of Real Dimez, a duo of high school friends turned rap stars and influencers. Alongside her partner Roxy, and signed to Only Raw Records, the girls are making major moves in Vice City’s music scene.

Corrupt Cops in Vice City?

It seems one of the plot threads may follow a crew of corrupt Vice City cops. In one scene, a group of officers talk about protecting each other. This could be hinting at a deeper narrative involving dirty secrets, abuse of power, and the thin line between justice and corruption.

Dre’Quan

Real Dimez manager, Dre’Quan, is a hustler with his eyes on the music charts, not the criminal underworld. With a potential hit act in Bae-Luxe and Roxy, he’s looking to leave behind his days booking gigs at Boobie’s strip club and make a real mark on the Vice City music scene.

Boobie Ike

Speaking of the strip club, it’s owned by Boobie Ike, a local Vice City legend. While he only makes a brief appearance on the GTA VI website, it’s revealed that he’s partnered with Dre’Quan, funnelling club and drug money into building a rising music empire.

Raul Bautista

No Grand Theft Auto game would be complete without a criminal mastermind, and Vice City’s own Raul Bautista fits the bill. A seasoned bank robber known for raising the stakes during heists, he often drags his crew into more danger than planned. Beyond his criminal exploits, Raul is also a provocative media figure with a large online audience, blending crime and controversy in Vice City’s turbulent scene.
